The new regulation REACH
The new regulation on chemicals REACH of the European Parliament and Council on "Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals" entered into force on 1st June 2007. This website provides general background information and links to official helpdesks of professional associations, regarding REACH. The objective of REACH is to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that could arise from chemicals. Furthermore, the promotion of alternative test methods and the free intra-Community trade of chemical substances on the internal market shall be enhanced. REACH makes industry responsible for assessing and managing the risks posed by chemicals. Appropriate safety information must be provided for the users. In parallel, the European Union can take additional measures on substances of very high concern. |  |
